We have a wide variety of roles in all engineering and data modelling disciplines. Our infrastructure engineering work is carried out within our Asset Delivery Directorate. Some of the key activities that we undertake are listed below.
Asset Lifecycle Planning (ALP)
This team is responsible for the development of overall asset strategies and the selection of the investment scenarios and plans based on the solutions developed within Investment Management Section. The team also manages the Research, Development and Innovation Programme (RDI) which is targeted at the implementation of innovation within NI Water through a programme of investment in technology and the development/implementation of the Instrumentation, Control, Automation and Telemetry (iCAT) Strategy. The RDI programme is designed to deliver quantifiable savings and qualitative improvements to the business.
Investment Management (IM)
The investment Management team are the owners of the Capital Works Programme and are responsible for the monitoring of regulatory outputs and capital spend. IM are responsible for bringing projects through the Outputs Review Group, being the change control process for the price control.
In addition this team develops the strategic capital and operating cost solution options to meet the investment needs identified within Asset Performance. In addition the team is the point of contact for exception monitoring of the delivery of the strategic investment plan as part of the governance framework.
Modelling and Data
The Clean Water Modelling Team forms part of the wider Asset Delivery Strategic Client Directorate. The team primarily supports the delivery of all hydraulic modelling scope, from the development of new distribution and trunk main model builds to the maintenance of current NIW model stock. The team also supports the modelling requirements from the various internal stakeholders within NIW through network capacity checks, smaller network investigations, supporting operational incidents and utilising modelling tools to further analyse the distribution network.
The Waste Water Modelling Team
Manages the overall hydraulic modelling scope of work, oversees the development of hydraulic models and updates the model stock while supporting modelling requirements of internal stakeholders; such as Pre-Development Enquires, Network Capacity Checks and other Ad hoc projects. Additionally, we use predictive hydraulic modelling in our Wastewater networks to identify capital investment requirements, as well as supporting Customer Service Delivery when required.
Asset Information Development (AID)
Are responsible for the configuration of the Corporate Asset Register (CAR) databases and applications plus development of new user applications and digital workflows to meet business requirements on both desktop and mobile technology. AID provides easy access to CAR data and GIS mapping and is also responsible for user training and maintenance and security of the CAR systems to ensure straightforward and reliable access to over 1,000 business customers. AID provides spatial and asset data analytics and business support systems integration (e.g. mobile working and customer service) as well as enablement for numerous corporate projects and initiatives.
Asset Information Maintenance (AIM)
Are responsible for update and maintenance of the CAR asset records in response to asset data returns and ensures that accurate and up to date information supplied by the data owners is available for all users. AIM is also responsible for additional corporate asset data such as water management zones (e.g. DMAs, SDACs etc.), performance data (e.g. bursts and blockages) and asset related document management.
